A Place for Cafe Refugees and Others Like Them

Morgaine Speaks

Never forget the apple blossoms
the truth, the promise, the hope

We have withstood so much
and yet we will take on so much more

It is in our blood
this desire to shed no more blood

(or at least, it’s in most of us)

Most on this earth struggle every day
to get by, to be heard, to live, to love

another day

another dime

For me, you know, the real crime
is that those who struggle
they honor beauty
a hell of a lot more
than those who don’t struggle at all

Now why is that?

And why is the truth forgotten?

  1. This is beautiful! I guess I must have struggled. To see that.

  2. If you are not busy being born
    You are busy dying.

The dead do not need struggle.

    • The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man’s heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.

      – Albert Camus, ‘The Myth of Sisyphus’

  4. We struggle, all of us, at birth and in death. What happens in between is open to interpretation. But nobody is free of the burdens of life.

  5. This is beautiful, Lis. Very nice.

So you want to know … why is the truth forgotten ???

    That’s easy!
    Got anything more difficult?

People avoid the truth to save face whn they’ve realized they’ve been foolish. It’s as old a civilization and still in wide practice. And belief in something…like religion and God…trumps the truth and facts as well. Belief that something is true regardless of facts is considered to be a test of faith.

So take the religious faith test and apply it to a particular tangent of political thought and people tend to hold strong opinions of fallacies in how they view the world and the way it works based solely on their belief and refuse to consider options because to do so would invalidate their belief they hold so dear.

In other words, to admit you had some foolish ideas would be too embarrassing, so pretend you’re right and everyone else is wrong and eventually more people will believe you because no one is saying you’re wrong and a following occurs that reinforces your belief so you must be on to something that is true and people are beginning to awaken. And a new truth is born regardless how false it is.

    • Sad, Beetlejuice, but ultimately all too true. In a way it sort of helps me to sympathize with the Religious Right, looking at it from your angle. They are stuck in their position due to being stuck in their view of their own religion, justifying the unjustifiable simply because they must. I doubt they are even aware of the internal pretzel twisting they are performing in their own minds. Rather sad, isn’t it?

But hey, it’s nice to see you here. Thanks so much for coming by to check us out, and please do so more often, okay? And give a hug to the Tickle Fairy for me. BTW, when I was a kid, my older sisters used to tickle me, and would refer to themselves as the Tickle Monsters. I think Fairy is a nicer term…but either way, I’m tickled.

Thanks, Lis. At least we do well, like Sisyphus, to struggle. Because the apex is there before us. Everyday. And only we can redefine/refine it. Life is what you see.
